"Japan" should be sufficient explanation for this one.

Being a fan of anime, I have a certain affection for Japan. I find it interesting how their attitudes on most everything in life--dour, serious, busy, and unflinchingly polite--contrast sharply with their pop culture, which is loud, erratic, candy-colored, and, above all else: Really, really bizarre, and really, really cute.

This inaugural video is the perfect combination of both of the above. It's cute, it's weird, and it's cutely weird and weirdly cute. It's a promotional video for de Blob, a 2008 video game for the Wii. (I totally recommend it, by the way.) While de Blob is actually an American-made game, this ad for it--and the catchy little song that goes with it--is so darn Japanese you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise.

I hereby dub you Tuwinkuru-toes-san.
